The exhibition consists of 5×2 meter charcoal on canvas drawings. The drawings depict specific northern Galilee views, which are also my landscape as a Palestinian Arab Israeli citizen. I use a restricted palette of dark and light lines and stains created with natural and synthetic charcoal, a spatula and acrylic paint for the background. The monochromatic greys are directly influenced by the country’s political situation, especially the October 7 attacks and the war. My work process is spontaneous and based on personal memory. The lines and stains express emotions, and I design cultural elements that join different compositions each time. Every one of the drawings opens new possibilities for me to explore my identity and my connection to my surroundings and fields of knowledge such as literature, music, philosophy, calligraphy and crafts.
