I’m All Ears, sound installation, 2023

Speakers and electrical cords create a three-dimensional drawing in the exhibition spaces, simulating a place, perhaps a street, perhaps a biological network of vessels or neurons. The sound, which reproduces movement in space, is an assembly of recordings made in Wadi Nisnas, a neighborhood associated with the Palestinian population of Haifa, to which I recently moved. A crisis in my personal life led me to intentionally choose the stance of an outsider – cultural, personal, and national – and focus on listening to the public space to find, or perhaps create for myself, a new place.
