How many times can a body repeat a stolen gesture before its original owner begins to fade away? When does a grandfather’s gait stop emanating from the child’s legs while the child is standing still?

Facial expressions continue long after the related emotion has passed, and certain movements appear in people who were never taught them, as if the body received instructions without knowing from whom.

Animal behaviors interrupted mid-action do not disappear. They remain suspended within the nervous system, creating small glitches that turn the “I” into a “we” before the body has understood itself to be an individual.

Eventually, repetition detaches itself from intention.
