Transparency, 2023

Reality is always the starting point for my art. Forms and images entice my eyes and inspire me. In this work I was thinking about mushrooms, corals, the prayer clothes of Muslim women, and other curved, voluminous, rounded shapes – supple yet stable.

Sculpting with iron mesh allows me to move away from the concrete. The wires of the  iron mesh are both delicate and durable and through it I can move from two- to three- dimensionality. The spaces trapped within the sculptures and the drawings of the shadows of the iron mesh nets make me wonder about the nature of the “truth” I try to capture.
