style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, 2023<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0We women are born and begin to discover our \u201cplaces\u201d with our senses. We trip and fall on the asphalt and discover that it is hard and rigid, and that the mattress is soft. We discover the trees, the pleasant scents and also the horrible ones. At times, we even go too far and taste the soil of this \u201cplace.\u201d Until an adult comes along and tells us, \u201cThis is soil, you don\u2019t eat it.\u201d For us, the \u201cbig place\u201d can certainly be our parent\u2019s bed. We grow and the space shrinks, falling into various dialectic dimensions linked to our dynamic relationship with \u201cthe place.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My relationship with my hometown of Shefa-'Amr vacillates between alienation and familiarity. In this work I deal with this complex relationship and the relations between the textual and the material representations of the place, via a personal-familial narrative and my artistic desire to be absorbed in the place and to act from within its complexities.
