“Layers“ – Ariel Cababie

ARE YOU AN ECHO?

If I say, “Let’s play?”
you say, “Let’s play!”

If I say, “Stupid!”
you say, “Stupid!”

If I say, “I don’t want to play anymore,”
you say, “I don’t want to play anymore.”

And then, after a while,
becoming lonely
I say, “Sorry.”
You say, “Sorry.”
Are you just an echo?
No, you are everyone

(From the lost poems of Kaneko Misuzu)

“Layers” expresses the essence of the self as a home, a balancing force, and a driving engine for human development. The work is based on the notion that the very existence of a person carries inherent meaning — reflecting their essence and purpose in the world, just as every element in the universe contributes to the overall harmony.

The body of work embodies the human individual, who defines their sense of separateness through boundaries, both physical and emotional. Yet the “I,” through its spiritual and intellectual capacities, is also capable of reconnecting with the world and experiencing itself in a state of unity.

The infinity passed through Kanko Misuzu,
She opened to it gently.
He wore her fragile and beautiful form,
And time carried her into my soul,
Yearning for the touch of peace.

Her essence filled me like a whisper, an intuition,
A spark from another world ignited my thoughts,
And connected me to infinity,
To the truth in the form of Kanko Misuzu.
