The name of the exhibition: Together

Galia Sartiel is 59 years old and lives in Ramat Gan

Within my practice, my body functions as a political instrument—a body politic embodying the metaphors of my time and space. It exists simultaneously as a protagonist subject and an object of critique, deeply embedded in the collective. As the boundaries of the self blur, I become the very landscape I inhabit and scrutinize.

This exhibition utilizes image and sound to unpack the discordant interior voices that shape my experience: contempt and tension, presence and infatuation along with aversion and alienation. These psychological states directly mirror my physical reality, split between contemporary daily life and my volunteer work offering  “protective presence” in a desolate corner of the northern Jordan Valley. The inhabitants of this valley, Palestinians, are gradually chased out of this area by the different arms of the Israeli occupation of which I and my body are part
