I Invoke the Right to Remain Silent, 2023
I experience local reality as saturated with prejudices mixed with judgmental and identity politics, manifested with violence. Due to governmental changes, which include many cases of censorship and repression of art, I face a personal threat by expressing a clearly defined opinion.
Therefore, I use abstract painting which enables me and the viewers an open experience, dynamic and complex, free from conformities and fixations.
I rely on visual, non-lingual channels of communication, as a way to express the internal dialogue between body and soul while I paint. The Abstract allows the reflection of multiple viewpoints – as opposed to local, historical narratives.
The paintings were not made to please viewers, but to posit a point in time that is influenced by my inner world, the environment, and shifting modes of consciousness.
